Privacy Policy
Overleaf AI Agent Helper is a Chrome extension that exports Overleaf review comments, highlighted text, and related context into local CSV or JSON files for external editing workflows. It can also preview and post user-approved replies from an imported JSON file.
What data the extension accesses
The extension reads content already available in the user’s active Overleaf project tab, including review comments, reviewer names, dates, highlighted text, nearby context, and character positions when Overleaf exposes them through the editor state. When the user selects a JSON file for import, the extension also reads the project identifier, thread identifiers, and prepared reply text in that local file.
How the data is processed
Export extraction and import validation happen locally inside the user’s Chrome browser. The extension processes Overleaf page content only after the user opens an Overleaf project and explicitly starts an export or import. Imported replies are shown in a preview and are not posted until the user clicks the confirmation button.
What the extension sends or stores
- The extension does not send exported review data to external servers.
- The extension does not use analytics, ad trackers, or remote telemetry.
- The extension does not store exported review data remotely.
- The extension creates local downloads only after the user requests an export.
- Approved reply text is sent only to the active Overleaf project when the user confirms posting.
Permissions
The extension uses Overleaf host access only to read review information from the active project and to post replies that the user has previewed and explicitly confirmed.
External AI workflows
The extension itself does not connect to an AI service, edit manuscript content automatically, or transmit review data to an agent provider. If a user uploads an exported file into another tool, that separate tool is governed by its own privacy policy and terms.
