Overleaf AI Agent Helper exports Overleaf Review Overview comments to CSV or JSON for external editing and AI workflows, then previews and posts approved replies from JSON.

Installation

  1. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome.
  2. Enable Developer mode.
  3. Choose Load unpacked.
  4. Select the local extension/ folder.

How to export

  1. Open your Overleaf project in Chrome.
  2. Open the Review panel.
  3. Click the extension icon.
  4. Choose Export CSV or Export JSON.

How to import AI replies

  1. Give a fresh JSON export to your external AI agent together with the manuscript.
  2. Ask the agent to follow agentPrompt and fill each applicable agentResponse.
  3. Open the matching Overleaf project and its Review panel.
  4. Click Import AI Replies and select the edited JSON file.
  5. Review the ready replies in the popup, then confirm Post Replies.

Common issues

  • If the popup says to reload the Overleaf tab, reload the project page after updating or reloading the extension.
  • If no comments are exported, make sure the Review panel is open and the project contains comments in Overview.
  • If an export is missing highlight data, the row still exports and the highlight-related fields may be blank.
  • If you have just edited review threads, wait for Overleaf to finish rendering before exporting.
  • If no replies appear in the preview, confirm that at least one non-empty agentResponse.reply has status set to ready.
  • If import reports the wrong project, open the project recorded in the JSON before selecting the file.
  • Identical replies are skipped automatically. A different unsent draft is never overwritten.

Privacy summary

The extension processes Overleaf page content and selected JSON files locally in Chrome, uses no analytics, and posts prepared reply text only after the user reviews and confirms it.
